Another dozen from the Toscana series. All freely branch from the base which means lots of flowering shoots. The flowerheads are large with the petals not prone to shattering by strong winds.
Care and culture: geraniums are ideal in planters or beds that really catch the sun, they are tolerant of dry conditions especially once established in beds. We would recommend that geranium only plantings are watered early morning rather than last thing as this minimises any problems caused by wetness and falling temperatures.
For container planting use a good quality general-purpose compost with an open structure (good aeration). Ensure that the drainage is good.
Our whole range of plants is grown in our own mixed composts to suit different crops. Nutrition is provided by Osmocote Exact controlled release fertilizer with a 7-8 month release period (from potting). This is a “smart” fertilizer, little is leached out into the environment by watering, small quantities of nutrients are released as and when the plant requires, temperature being a key variable in this process. In a nutshell if you are planting from the Plantessential Range you will not need to feed your plants as often or as much. If liquid feeding start at half-rate and take it from there.
The height and spread shown for all varieties is an approximation, a rough guide to what they could achieve in a “reasonable” UK summer!
If you wish to overwinter geraniums then they must be placed in a frost-free greenhouse or conservatory or alternatively cuttings taken in September could be rooted in a propagator. Please note Plant Breeders Rights cover the Toscana series and propagation is forbidden.
